With only a few weeks remaining in this cross country season, tension is rising to achieve personal records and reach goals. ‘I think over all the season is going pretty well. The team is working hard to adjust to the changes with the new coach and season, and we continue improving with each meet,” said senior Mitchell Parish. Some athletes to keep your eye out for are freshman Hunter Rathjen (current best 5k time- 23:33), junior Tyler Ogden (current best 5k time- 19:00), and Parish (current best 5k time- 18:07).

This past week, the varsity team competed at UNK and JV competed at Gothenburg. Several personal records were beat, however there is still a lot of work to do, and very little time remaining.

Next week’s conference will be held in Kearney. The varsity athletes will be competing the following week for districts at a course that is currently unknown. In order to qualify individually for state, athletes must finish in the top 15 at districts. Surrounding Class A schools are very competitive, and therefore runners will have to continue training their hardest.
