The North Platte High School (NPHS) Mock Trial team went to districts on Tuesday, Nov. 22. As the defendant’s counsel, they faced off against the plaintiff, the Ogallala Black Mock Trial team.

The case, D. Brichacek v. L. Sweet, lasted nearly three hours; the Judges met for a short while and soon returned with the results. They announced that the plaintiff, Ogallala, won the case.

With North Platte’s loss, they will not be moving on to state competition.

While the team may have lost the case, they had fun along the way. Mock trial opening defense attorney, David Grandel, had some thoughts on the season.

“I think we could’ve done better but Ogallala held up their own and earned it,” he said. “[Though] I believe we did really well, especially with a newer crew. I’m proud of what we accomplished and it was a great team to be a part of, especially with the friendships we made.”

On that note, this season of Mock Trial has come to a close for the NPHS Mock Trial team.
