The girls’ tennis team participated in their first home matches on Mar. 19.

This match is the first players have competed since the abrupt halt before last year’s season, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The team competed against Lexington, Ogallala, Hershey, Scottsbluff and Gering, placing third in the invitational.

With last season being left uncompleted, players feel an urgency to compete and are finding a new sense of motivation.

“I’ve been waiting for two years, because of COVID, so it’s definitely really exciting to be able to play,” said senior Samantha Bowers. “I’m very excited, especially being a part of the number one seed doubles.”

The team’s next home match will be held on Apr. 1 at 9:30 a.m.
