The local Rec Center was packed on Thursday for the yearly NPHS home meet against McCook. North Platte’s pool is not regulation size, but the swimmers and divers do the best they can with what they have. “It’s kind of hard without starting on the blocks to cut time… but I’m having a good time,” junior swimmer Kilee Sauer said.

It is tradition to have a “walking race” at the end of this meet, where swimmers aren’t allowed to “swim” but instead run in the water. It is followed by head swim and dive coach Brian JahnkeĀ jumping off of the high dive. After that, the team follows him by all jumping in the pool.
