New year, new principal

An interview with Scott Siegel

Jasper Hunt, Staff Writer

In case you haven’t heard, Principal Ayres won’t be our Principal Ayres next year. He’ll be going to Adams. NPHS’ new principal will be Scott Siegel. Some students may be unsure of the kind of principal he will be. He agreed to an interview to clarify these concerns.

Why were you chosen for this position?

I believe there was a need at multiple buildings in the district and Mr. Ayres is going to Adams and he’s going to do a fantastic job.

Do you have any concerns about this job?

I just want to do a very solid job for students, staff, and the community. No real concerns, but that’s a goal.

How will your policy affect the school and its students?

There’s not going to be any major changes in policy. A lot of policy comes from the school board and people much more important than me.

How should students expect the school to change next year?

Sometimes we think of changes as a negative thing. Any changes that happen are going to help students first of all. I don’t believe in changes for the sake of changes.

There have been some serious safety concerns in America recently, does this concern you and will it affect the school?

Safety is the primary concern of any administrator. If we don’t have safety it’s harder to learn because safety is the most basic of human need.
