The cold actually bothers me a lot

My thoughts on this freezing weather

Snow, snow, and more snow. That’s what this whole winter has felt like. When one batch of white powdered sadness would melt off, there was another round right there to keep this frozen winter going strong. The temperatures were some of the harshest there have been in a long while, and it won’t end.

The start of the track season was hard to run in with how cold and windy it has been. Everyday was a new struggle. One day we would be hurdling giant snow drifts and the next we would be battling 50+ mph wind speeds. Even down to this week, there were freezing temperatures and freezing rain. I went to Colorado Springs and the weather was way nicer than it was here. When we left Colorado, the sun was shining and it was a nice spring morning but we got out of the van here, it is windy and was much colder than it was there. Which was a real downer because I just want the warm to come back so we can actually be outside without multiple layers and still freezing to death. Every morning this winter, I dreaded the

awful walk from my car into the school. And everyday that hundred yard walk was on of the worst part of my day. Also, when I walked out of swim and  a few yards to my car and my hair was frozen it fueled my hatred for winter even more than it was already. Then there was the wind, for so long we were doing so good on not having those crazy windy days but of course during some of the coldest days was when it blew the hardest. That was like adding salt to a wound but someone unscrewed the top and the entire thing spilled out.

Then we get to the constant teasing by Mother Nature with the nice weather to give you a false sense of hope that warmer days are ahead. A couple weeks or so ago we had that stretch that was really nice and she was like “Nope, you thought.” and it ended up snowing some more.

On March 19, the wind was blowing and the sleet was pelting me as we set out for our 10 mile run and when we were coming back you couldn’t even open your eyes because the mix of wind and sleet in them stung like mad. However, I am hopeful that warm weather will come soon and when it does I am not going to be sorry.
