Prepping to be Successful
The ACT (American College Testing) is coming up faster than we expect. We have heard rumors about this long and hard test since we were in middle school. Before this year the ACT was optional to all students. This year our school is taking a different approach and is making it a requirement. A lot of us Juniors are not ready for this test, do not know what it consists of, and just need a little more preparation before we take this test. The ACT is very important into making your life and going to college. President of the Sylvan Learning Center Debra Smith said, “ACT is very critical for acceptance for all colleges and universities in the U.S.”
There are a lot of different organizations, websites, tutors, and even apps that can help us with this test. The sylvan learning center is the biggest and best organization that would help us prepare for the ACT. The can help you increase your score on average from 3-5 points. 3-5 points may not seem like a lot but that could determine whether or not if you get picked to got to your dream school or if someone else from the nation gets it. The ACT is a huge factor when it comes to going to college. If you score a 29-31 last year UNL would have given you a full ride scholarship. The average score for the ACT score in Nebraska last year was 21.4. Doing good is important not just to you it is also important to your state. Smith said, “We need to compete throughout the nation.” Smith also said, “Each state is responsible for each schooling not doing too well.”
Some of the help that the sylvan learning center provides for the ACT is a day 2 day boot camp, they offer tutors, and different classes that they offer to us. The sylvan learning center also is locally owned if you want more information on this their address is 1101 S. Cottonwood. Their phone number is 308-532-4441.
