Getting CLOSE-UP to D.C.
North Platte High School students visited Washington D.C. not only for a vacation, but to learn how to play an active role as a citizen in a democracy. With the organization Close Up, the students got to go see D.C. for a week. “We woke up extremely early every day and went out into the city to see all of the attractions, like war memorials and the White House, said junior Makinsey Manning.” Along with getting to see the sites, the students met new people from all across the United States. Junior Kort Steele said, “Meeting people from all around the country was and enjoyable experience and is something I would recommend high-schoolers do! World History teacher Josh Bruck, will be taking another group to D.C in 2018.
