Head wrestling coach Dale Hall is one of North Platte High School’s most beloved and respected coaches and his accomplishments keep piling up. Coach Hall just picked up his 300th Dual win which is a massive accomplishment in the world of wrestling. After picking up number 300 at McCook one week ago, Kearney High School took to Twitter to congratulate Coach Hall. Needless to say, if Coach Hall is doing well, the team is succeeding as well. “The strength of the team right now is in the middle weights, probably from 138 through 170. That’s probably where we have our best kids and we’re going to be relying on them for the rest of the season,” said Hall.

Senior Dylan Peterson and sophomore Braiden Ruffin, both 2015 state qualifiers, have the best records on the team so far, at 39-2, and 38-2 respectively. The Bulldogs are also led by the other returning qualifiers, seniors David Mata, Drew Smith, Bryan Halsted, juniors, Branton Flanders. Jayden Songster. Sophomores Jayson Scott, and Dom Tridle, are other contributors that did not attend state last year. Hall said that one of the weaknesses of the team has been keeping his team healthy and free of injury. They also are going to work on getting out when they are almost pinned and making it back to your base.

So far this season the wrestling team has 19 wins and 15 loses. Hall said this year’s team has 14 weight classes. “I’d love to see 14 kids qualify for the state tournament,” said Hall, “That would be a goal for the entire team.”
