NPHS StuCo sponsors tailgate
September 26, 2022
The North Platte High School Student Council hosted a tailgate barbecue for the first football home game on August 26 in the NPHS parking lot from 5-7 p.m.
NebraskaLand Bank sponsored the event. The barbecue consisted of hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, cookies and a drink.
StuCo Vice President Kalee Brosius (12) said food can be expensive at football games.
At this event, fans were able to “have cheap meals and have a good time at the tailgate.”
StuCo did have some spending involved for the fundraiser.
“We (had) most of the food donated,” Brosius said. “All the council members donate(d) something like pop, desserts and utensils.”
They ended up selling out every hamburger and hotdog.
“This idea has been around for years, so it’s like an inheritance,” StuCo Advisor Josh Bruck said. “The benefit of this event is the funds from this event will go towards improving our school.”
“Instead of the Make-a-Wish, too, we want to help this school this year for a lot of things that are local and help our community around us, kind of the way to help the school and get everyone excited for the football game,” Brosius said.
About 250 people attended the game to cheer on the Bulldogs, where they lost to Grand Island High School, 20-19.
StuCo secretary Grady Sexson enjoys helping with events like this.
“I will help more in events such as these since I really like volunteering,” he said.
There will be more opportunities coming up to support the Bulldogs at upcoming events.
