Lincoln-Southeast: The scouting report

Seniors Allison Kuenle, Alex Neff, and Olivia Nicholson lead the Lady Dawgs to the State playoffs.

The Lady Dawgs have capped off a phenomenal season with a State tournament berth. The Bulldogs first-round match will be against the Lincoln-Southeast Lady Knights at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Dawgs put a 35-3 record on the line against the 22-14 LSE team led by senior captain Nerissa Moravec, who has 249 kills on the season. The matchup of North Platte senior Olivia Nicholson and Moravec will be one to watch later this evening.

North Platte has gone head-to-head with the Lady Knights just twice this season; the Dawgs getting the best of LSE both times, two sets to none. The Dawgs and Knights have both dropped matches to the Omaha-Marian Crusaders and the Papillion-Lavista South Titans. Southeast is currently on 2 game winning streak, winning their district in matches against North Star and Omaha North. The Dawgs are bringing a 13 game winning streak into the State Tournament.

The game will be played at the neutral site of Pinnacle Bank Arena. The Lady Dawgs are 21-3 at neutral sites, while the Lady Knights are just 10-10. The Dawgs have dominated most opponents this year, only dropping 7 total sets this season, with a whopping 34 shutouts. The #2 Dawgs will take on the #7 Knights tonight at 5:30, a win tonight would put them in the semi-finals against the winner of the game between Papillion-LaVista and Millard West. North Platte has beaten PLV twice, but has never faced the Lady Wildcats.
