Dawgs split duals at home

The North Platte Bulldogs went one and one in their duals with Hastings and Scottsbluff. Junior Raymen Riley finished the first dual for the bulldogs with a pin against Scottsbluff. Over half of North Platte wrestlers pinned Bearcat wrestlers, including the lone senior of the team, Gus Kreber.

On Saturday afternoon, the North Platte Bulldogs hosted a wrestling triangular where they beat Scottsbluff High School, but fell in the second dual to Hastings High School.

On Saturday, sophomore Jaylan Ruffin faced off against two-time State champion Paul Garcia of Scottsbluff. Ruffin climbed to an 8-0 lead in the early stages of the match and Garcia’s only three points came in the last minute. “I lost to him here last year, it was my second time, so I thought it was mine this time,” he said.

Junior Darian Diaz made his first appearance this season after missing the first half of his matches due to suspension. “No matter how long I’m out, I’m always going to be ready to wrestle,” Diaz said. Diaz won both his matches on the day and won his first match with a 53 second pin.

Junior Cash Arensdorf gets a pin during his first match versus Scottsbluff. More than half of the bulldog wrestlers finished their matches with pins. “It felt great to go in there and get the pin and represent my team,” said junior Santana Morin.
