Lady Dawgs dominate Districts

Fremont Tigers girls soccer (5-11) had no answer for the North Platte Bulldog soccer team (12-3) on Monday, April 30. The Lady Dawgs put on an absolute beatdown in their 8-0 win over the tigers, with goals contributed by 6 different players.

The girls kept that momentum rolling into their next game versus Lincoln Pius X, with junior Abbie Hedgecock scoring the first goal, and quickly too. Lincoln Pius refused to go down that easily however, they responded by scoring two straight goals. The second Lincoln Pius goal put the Lady Dawgs on the ropes coming in the last ten minutes of the game. But Hedgecock struck once again with just over eight minutes left in the game.

Until the end of game the teams stayed deadlocked, the game concluding at 2-2. The first overtime yielded no results for either team, but in the second overtime, North Platteā€™s leading scorer Gracie Haneborg, put in a shot from outside the 18-yard box, winning the game for the Lady Dawgs and also sending the girls to the State tournament.

The tournament starts on May 9, and the girls will have until then to prepare and make sure they are ready to take on some big names like Elkhorn South (15-1).
