No hair? Don’t care! I’m a girl and, I shaved my head: Yes, you read that correctly, I have next to no hair and I think it’s amazing!
For years, there’s been controversy about women who’ve shaved their heads, whether it be people saying, “You don’t look like a girl,” or, “How will you get a guy looking like that?” People have always been against it. I myself, loved the idea. Where people saw it as something that took away your femininity, I saw it as something that solidified it and showed your strength. Maybe it’s the women being bold and different that used to scare people because women shaving their head was seen as them being out of control because it was outside of the norm.
I decided to shave my head when I was scrolling through Pinterest, as one does, when I saw a few pictures of women with little to no hair. That sealed the deal. First, I cut my hair to the point where it was shaved on one side and angled on the other. That was what I’d like to call “The Buffer Zone”, but my main goal was always to shave it completely. If you know me, you’d know that I strive to be different than the people around me. Whether that be with fashion or now my hair. You may be asking yourself, “ Why would you do that?” My answer to that is: I just wanted to have fun with my hair. I live by the policy that life is too short to care about what people think about you. As long as you’re happy, do what you want to do.
For me, I was never good at styling my long hair nor did I enjoy doing so. This was a natural choice for me. I could be different, while keeping my lazy tendencies, and not needing to do my hair! Simple tasks like walking through Walmart or the mall get people to stare. Most good and curious, others full of confusion and judgment, but any stare I get is fine by me because then I know I stand out from the crowd. That is and will always be my goal.
