The Not-so Suicide Squad

The+Not-so+Suicide+Squad

Being an extremely over-hyped movie, Suicide Squad had a lot to live up to. Everyone who was excited to see this movie had high expectations; which is always a bad thing when it comes to superhero movies. They very rarely live up to those expectations. Unless your movie is Captain America: Civil War, then no one cares about the rest of the movie. They just came for Spider-Man. Unfortunately, Spider-Man wasn’t in this movie, so they relied on the rest of the movie.
Suicide Squad is about a group of villains in the Detective Comics (DC) universe. A woman from the government recruits them to fight off an evil entity. It may sound pretty boring, but it’s actually interesting. The main characters of the film are Deadshot, played by Will Smith, and Harley Quinn, played by Margot Robbie.
Most people thought this movie would focus a lot on the Joker and Harley, if they expected this, they would be either disappointed or really happy. Sadly, the Joker didn’t get as much screen time as many people wanted. Many of his scenes were cut to reduce run-time because some of them may have been offensive to certain audiences.
Many people were very disappointed in the final result of this movie. Some people just didn’t like the plot. Many said it was really good once they watched it a second time. Many people said the movie didn’t live up to their expectations. In the movie’s defense, no movie could live up to that much hype. This movie had been played up for almost two years, it was a lot to expect for a movie as popular as this.
Personally, I thought the movie was great. It had great action sequences and amazing cameos from superheros. The writing was fairly decent, and all the actors did wonderful. Some of the characters are good, while others might have made me want to stand outside with a metal pole on my back during a thunderstorm. Most of the time, I was able to look past them and focus on the good parts. While it might not have been able to meet everyone’s expectations, it definitely kept me interested throughout the whole film. I give it a seven out of 10.
