Favorite team memory: My very first varsity game, freshman year, it was the third or fourth game of the season, and I had played really good in the JV game. My coach decided to put me in the varsity game. That first set, I couldn’t get my serves in; I only had one kill and hit all the rest out of bounds. I couldn’t get a touch on the blocks. My coach took a timeout just to rip me out, she came out onto the court right to me and yelled in front of the whole gym, and said, “If you don’t start playing like the player I know you are then, I don’t want you at practice next Monday! Now get a touch on the block!” Then she walked off the court, the next three sets I played way better and more confident. It was the game that made me fall in love with volleyball.
