Hoping for sucess
Senior Hope Wilke is in her final season throwing for the Lady Dawgs. Every season in her high school career, Wilke has qualified for state in at least one event. This year she wants to medal in both shot put and discus at the state championship tournament.
In order to do that, Wilke thinks she could improve on some things. “I need to work on the mental part of throwing and on perfecting my form,” Wilke said. “The better your form is, the farther you throw.” So far this season, the best Wilke has thrown for shot put is 40 feet 9.5 inches, which is the new school record. The previous record from 1988 was 39 feet 10 inces. Her season best for discus is 123’7’’.
Although Wilke has thrown over the state qualifying distance, a trip to state isn’t a guaranteed. It depends on how she does in districts. In order to go to state, she will have to place in the top four or throw the qualifying distances. Districts will be held at the NPHS track on May 11th at 1:00 p.m.

I don’t understand the 123’7″. I also thought it could’ve used more quotes from Hope.
