Jelly Tarzan

The Ryeview

Okay, so there is this animated movie called “Ivan the Incredible,” and this movie is an enigma. This movie was made for kids, but it’s very unclear as to what the main lesson is, or anything else that’s going on. The animation in this movie is very ugly and off-sync.

The story is about a boy named Ivan who gets bullied at school and lives alone with his dad because his mom left the dad for a big Greek guy. The dad is super into Tarzan. He is prone to throw away everything in the house because he doesn’t like old stuff. He is basically a psychopath. He quits his day job to become a coach, not really having the right qualifications or anything, then gets mad because no one wants to hire a coach with a kid as awful as Ivan.

The dad calls Ivan a yellow-belly for not being strong like Tarzan, and for not being able to read. He makes a spectacle of Ivan by making him climb a tree for the townspeople. Ivan doesn’t want to do it because he says he’ll fall and get a bloody nose. His dad throws him up the tree, Ivan can’t climb it. He falls flat on his face, and then everyone starts calling him “Jelly-Tarzan” and laughs at him.

Jelly-Tarzan runs away to the forest and finds a witch who gives him a potion that makes him strong and smart. Ivan immediately sets out to get revenge on his classmates by throwing them in the potty. His dad starts monetizing his son by writing a book called “Tarzan Coach,” and then steals the thunder from Ivan because the dad is a scumbag.
The thing about this movie is that there was a meeting somewhere where they pitched this idea, and people actually thought this would be a good movie. Board members approved the idea for a dad to belittle his son because he can’t climb a tree. I give it a solid 1/10. Don’t watch it unless you want to be bored and hate yourself.
