The Lady Dawgs practice their shooting skills.

The North Platte Lady Dawgs team will be fairly young this season with only two seniors, but there is hope. Senior transfer Josie Cox checks in at 6’ 3”, and will be a help down under the basket for the Lady Dawgs team. “There aren’t a lot of them, but I think they’ll do okay. We have a lot of talent this year,” said team manager, sophomore Amberlyn Reed. Along with Cox, sophomores Sami Mauch, Katy Hansen, and Gabby Menghini are seen as quality additions by Coach Mark Woodhead.

Coach Woodhead says that they don’t want to particularly focus on one specific game, but that the Kearney match will be important because of their proximity to North Platte. “Our strongest point is the way the girls work together and how they all knew each other coming into the season,” Reed said.
The girl’s season tipped off at Gothenburg, on November 30, against Gothenburg, winning 38-29. The girls will play next at either Lincoln High or Elkhorn, tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
