The scoop on Central
On Oct. 30 the North Platte Bulldogs traveled to Omaha for a playoff showdown with the Omaha Central Eagles. The Dawgs played stout defense through most of two quarters. The Eagles punched it in with about two minutes left in the first half, but the Dawgs broke through the line and blocked the extra point. In two-minute drill fashion, the Dawgs drove and scored with little time left. NP led 7-6 at halftime.
Through the third quarter the score held. As the fourth quarter continued, the Eagles struck again, converting the two-point conversion making it 14-7. Just when the Dawgs appeared to be mounting a comeback drive, a turnover killed their hopes of a second-round playoff game. Central scored once more in the final minutes of the game, but the the game was all but over.
